The 2019 Oklahoma Youth Expo concluded this past week and support for the world’s largest junior livestock show has never been stronger.

Not only were entries for OYE up 8.6 percent compared to 2018, bringing total entries to 21,159 head of cattle, pigs, goats and sheep, but special appearances were also made by Governor Kevin Stitt and Oklahoma City pro basketball center, Steven Adams.

“We were thrilled to be able to show off our largest show to date to such influential people here in the state of Oklahoma,” said Kass Newell, Oklahoma Youth Expo show manager. “We are honored to showcase our hard-working ag youth who are the future of our state and the agricultural industry.”

From March 13 through the 22, more than 7,000 exhibitors marched their cattle, pigs, goats and sheep through the showrings, competing for champion honors at this year’s show. Throughout the 10 day show, exhibitors competed for the chance to make the Sale of Champions and for additional scholarships.

This year’s Sale of Champions grossed $1.25 million, all of which goes directly to the exhibitors.

“We are thankful for our generous sponsors who see the continued need to invest in our ag youth,” Newell said. “Each year we are able to award nearly $2 million in prize money and scholarships to our exhibitors.”

“Here at OYE we are proud of each and every one of our exhibitors,” Newell said. “It takes everyone to truly make this ‘The Greatest Show’ and it all starts back at home in the barn.”
